Mature way of looking at mature media content

Our reality is significantly augmented and influenced by visual media. I am ignoring print media for now, and focusing on TV, Films, Gaming which are gradually integrated under streaming.

I got curious as to the qualifiers used while watching a matured content in streaming. Wanted to make full list of all these qualifiers. Did get the reference for those prescribed by Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).

Need to validate further whether the streaming agencies extended these qualifiers further. If found more info, will extend this blog later with additional information. So, plan to revisit later if you are curious enough.

TV Parental Guidelines Ratings

The direct description of each rating from the TV Parental Guidelines Monitoring Board is listed above the extended ratings description in italics.

For more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TV_Parental_Guidelines

TV-Y

This program is designed to be appropriate for all children.

Programs rated TV-Y are designed to be appropriate for children of all ages. The thematic elements portrayed in programs with this rating are specifically designed for a very young audience.

TV-Y7

This program is designed for children age 7 and above.
Programs rated TV-Y7 are designed for children age 7 and older. The FCC states that it "may be more appropriate for children who have acquired the developmental skills needed to distinguish between make-believe and reality." The thematic elements portrayed in programs with this rating contain mild fantasy and comedic violence.

Programs where fantasy violence may be more intense or more combative.
Programs given the "FV" content descriptor exhibit more 'fantasy violence' and are generally more intense or combative than other programs rated TV-Y7.

TV-G

Most parents will find this program suitable for all ages
Programs rated TV-G are generally suited for all audiences, though they may not necessarily contain content of interest to children. The FCC states that "this rating does not signify a program designed specifically for children, [and] most parents may let younger children watch this program unattended."[12] The thematic elements portrayed in programs with this rating contain little or no violence, mild language, and little or no sexual dialogue or situations.

TV-PG

This program contains material that parents may find unsuitable for younger children
Programs rated TV-PG may contain some material that parents or guardians may find inappropriate for younger children. Programs assigned a TV-PG rating may include infrequent coarse language, some sexual content, some suggestive dialogue, or moderate violence.

TV-14

This program contains material that most parents would find unsuitable for children under 14 years of age.[11]
Programs rated TV-14 contain material that parents or adult guardians may find unsuitable for children under the age of 14. The FCC warns that "Parents are cautioned to exercise some care in monitoring this program and are cautioned against letting children under the age of 14 watch unattended." Programs with this rating contain intensely suggestive dialogue, strong coarse language, intense sexual situations or intense violence

TV-MA

This program is specifically designed to be viewed by adults and therefore may be unsuitable for children under 17.
Contains content that may be unsuitable for children. This rating was originally TV-M prior to the announced revisions to the rating system in August 1997 but was changed due to a trademark dispute and in order to remove confusion with the Entertainment Software Rating Board's (ESRB) "M for Mature" rating for video games. This rating is rarely used by broadcast networks or local television stations due to FCC restrictions on program content, although it is commonly applied to television programs featured on certain cable channels (basic and premium networks) and streaming networks for both mainstream and softcore programs. Programs with this rating may include crude indecent language, explicit sexual activity and graphic violence.

Content descriptors

An example of a rating, which is TV-14 with all content descriptors (D, L, S, and V).

Some thematic elements, according to the FCC, "may call for parental guidance and/or the program may contain one or more of the following" sub-ratings, designated with an alphabetic letter:

· D – Sexual or suggestive dialogue (not used with the TV-MA rating)

· L – Coarse or crude language

· S – Sexual situations

· V – Violence

· FV – Fantasy violence (exclusive to the TV-Y7 rating)

Motion Picture content Rating System:

Varies by country. Rating systems for India, UK and USA are given below. For more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_picture_content_rating_system

In India, Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is responsible for certifying films meant for public exhibition.[68]

· U – Unrestricted public exhibition.

· U/A – Unrestricted public exhibition, but with parental guidance for children below the age of 12 years.

· A – Restricted to adults.

· S – Restricted to any special class of persons.

In United Kingdom:

Further information: British Board of Film Classification, History of British film certificates, and Video Recordings Act 1984

BBFC classification symbols (from 2019)

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) classifies films to be publicly exhibited in the United Kingdom, although statutory powers remain with local councils which can overrule any of the BBFC's decisions. Since 1984, the BBFC also classifies films made commercially available through a home video format. If the BBFC refuses a classification this effectively amounts to a ban (although local councils retain the legal right to overturn it in the case of cinema exhibition). The BBFC's regulatory powers do not extend to the Internet, so a film they have banned on physical media can still be made available via streaming media/video on demand. Videos designed to inform, educate or instruct or concerned with sport, religion or music are exempt from classification; exempt films may be marked as "E", but this is not an official label.[156][157]

The current BBFC system is:[158]

· U (Universal – Suitable for all) – A U-rated film should be suitable for audiences aged four years and over.

· PG (Parental Guidance) – General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children. A PG-rated film should not unsettle a child aged around eight or older.

· 12A / 12 (Suitable for 12 years and over) – Films classified 12A and video works classified 12 contain material that is not generally suitable for children aged under 12. No one younger than 12 may see a 12A-rated film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult. No one younger than 12 may rent or buy a 12 rated video work.

· 15 (Suitable only for 15 years and older) – No-one under 15 is allowed to see a 15-rated film at the cinema or buy/rent a 15-rated video.

· 18 (Suitable only for adults) – No-one under 18 is allowed to see an 18-rated film at the cinema or buy/rent an 18-rated video.

· R18 (To be shown only in specially licensed cinemas, or supplied only in licensed sex shops, and to adults only) – The R18 category is a special and legally restricted classification primarily for explicit works of consenting sex or strong fetish material involving adults. Films may only be shown to adults in specially licensed cinemas, and video works may be supplied to adults only in licensed sex shops. R18-rated video works may not be supplied by mail order.

Older video works still in circulation may still carry the deprecated Uc label, classifying the work as "Especially suitable for pre-school children".[157]

United States

Main article: Motion Picture Association film rating system

In the United States, film classification is a voluntary process with the ratings issued by the Motion Picture Association (MPA) via the Classification and Rating Administration (CARA).[159][160] The system was established in 1968, but the version listed below is the most recent revision, having been in effect since 1990.[161] An unrated film is often informally denoted by "NR" in newspapers and so forth.[162]

· G (General Audiences) – All ages admitted.

· PG (Parental Guidance Suggested) – Some material may not be suitable for children.

· PG-13 (Parents Strongly Cautioned) – Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.

· R (Restricted) – Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.

· NC-17 (Adults Only) – No one 17 and under admitted.

IPL 2022 Teams Points Table - Comparing Actual with the original estimates

Estimation is an art I followed both in my profession and day to day life in general.  At work, I became quite sought after for my "voodoo magic" of estimations where I made myself available to estimate on any work on which no one has any clue including myself, but while everyone backed off, I stood up as a hero, and survived all the time, shone like a star a few times.  This is mainly because estimation is an art for me, and I believe one should never run away from the challenge.

Estimation needs to use an estimation model which uses parameters. These parameters need to be tied in the model to bring closest resemblence to the reality out there.  Then we should assess the values of these parameters for the challenge at hand.  In commercial estimations, one should take the estimation errors and actual execution errors into account, therefore, the final commitment should have contingencies built in to the tune of 30% give or take.

After the work is completed, one should go back and assess the variance of actuals to the estimates. The variance could be due to execution errors or improvements, or simply the estimations had errors which need to be tuned.  The estimation errors could be in the model and parameter assessment.  This distinction between actual performance variance Vs. estimation error is very political in the work environment, hence one does not attempt such clarity going forward.

Since, my work challenges forced me to become a "Voodoo Magician" as I signed up to estimate anything given to me even though I was no expert having no clues. This was because there were no one else to take up the challenge otherwise.

So, I decided to unleash my voodoo magic on predicting final point table standings of the teams for IPL 2022.  As I had confessed before, I am no cricket expert, but my estimation model would help an expert to project better. Even a so called expert will go wrong significantly in these contexts, hence I had no qualms in attempting my projections.

I have given my tuning of the estimation model with corrected parameter values so that it comes in alignment with actual performance at the end of the season. I have also given below the original estimates. The values that were changed in retrofitting are highlighted in yellow.

You may question that my estimation model in itself needs tuning. May be so. But, given that one needs to do estimates being an idiot, one should start somewhere and then improve the art as experience assimilates.  Here, I have not questioned my original estimation model, which is pretty much clear in the worksheet.

Values given are as follows in computation:

A+ = 1.2

A = 1

B+ = 0.9

B = 0.8

C+ = 0.7

C = 0.6

Team strength is estimated by using estimated strengths of front line batting, middle order batting, tail end batting, bowling, fielding and benchstrength with appropriate weightages as shown.  Finally, the team leadership and management maturity is used as a multiplier to the unadjusted team strength.

Destiny is the dance of space and time.  Projection of space variables (players, contexts, connections) against time variables (past, present, future) helps one to predict the destiny too. This is my retirement hobby, that has evolved from my estimation expeditions during my career, some of which were glorious many a time, so I can not let go this temptation till my end.

The Good Doctor - An inspiring hospital drama series - 5 seasons - on Netflix - Must See!

Hospital drama series are generally popular on TV, but "The Good Doctor" is unique and inspiring.

If you are a good doctor, see it, and take a bow. You may already know that to be a good doctor, just the medical skills are not enough, it is all about becoming a superior human too.

If you are aspiring to be a good doctor, it is a must see.

For the rest, the series is inspiring to become the best human one can attempt to become. Hence it is a must see.

That is the bottom line.

For further read:

Now a days, when I watch the media productions, I do not see just for the entertainment value. I become one among the production team and wonder what it takes to make such a creation. This way, I get double dose of benefits on watching good creations.

Human expression is definitely becoming complex, so let us not stay behind. Our reality is becoming a matrix, which means we simply have more choices for an enriched life. But, the bottom line remains, that we deserve an enriched life experience, that is fulfilling until the end.  Of late, we see more avenues for our life expressions, not just the reality we are well used to, it is the world of internet, world of social network, gaming, world of virtual realities and their various extensions that are being built.

One virtual reality, human kind is well used for more than a century now is the world of cinema, which then transformed into TV production, and now streaming. The art of story telling and dramatizing is improving year on year.  I have extended my living into this virtual reality by spending  up to 25% of my daily routine during waking hours watching such a fine art.  The fulfillment is not just in entertainment, there is so much learning about self and the world, but also there are inspirations and creative inputs to the self to excel in the overall life out there.

For the last 10 years, I am not just watching as an audience,  I attempt to become a director, script writer, casting person, photographer, actor, editor, special effect person, music director, support crew etc. while watching, I end up appreciating what might have gone in to making these visual art works, especially  mounting so many masterpieces.

I also have had deep experiences in the reality out there, which I call the episodes of "enchantment". When I become one with the reality with all senses and realms  fully engaged into it, the reality becomes dream like and perfect. The thought vanishes, time stops. The bliss is the main expression and it is like getting very high with no drug use.  The experiences of these "enchantments" become the benchmark to extend the journey of life to produce the same experience every moment ahead.

If we can experience "enchantment" in the reality out there, it should be easier to experience the same through virtual reality, for distinctions I will call this as "inchantment", meaning it is within a virtual reality than the reality, but the experience is as if it is enchantment in the reality out there. In enchantment, the reality is dream like, in inchantment, the virtual reality is like the reality, and therefore it too is special.

I have had many such inchantment episodes with the virtual reality of media productions across cinema, TV and now streaming. More I have such experiences, more respect and interest I have for the efforts behind creating such efforts. Imagine the meticulousness that goes into such productions, we need to simply ask a question, "What it takes to apply the same meticulousness to project the production of my life out there in reality". Implications are mind boggling. I will at least take a pause and ask one question, "What lessons I am learning for life ahead from watching this production?". I have watched at least 15,000 such productions so far, and asking the same question again and again is slowly making a difference in my life.

Probably certain gaming experiences too may provide the same effect, but I have not signed up mainly due to lack of time and risk of addiction and losing out to the reality out there.

What if these inchantment experiences also become an inspiration to do well out there in the reality. That is double bonus. The Good Doctor is one such gift to watch.

Let me end with the bottom line, whether you choose to watch The Good Doctor. It is possible to become a better human than before, and we can stay signed up for it all the time. The growing matrix of human expressions just gives exponential opportunities to do so, while the challenges too are surmounting. The game is becoming bigger, let the play and the spirit behind too grow with it.

Namasthe!

It is still not too late for you to mine crypto currency coins for free using your smartphone with no investments and risks!

Dear Crypto enthusiast,

Change is constant.  The internet revolution combined with smartphones is fueling revolutionary changes in technology, economy, culture, lifestyle etc. Whether we like all of them or not, sometimes it is best to go with the change and even attempt to benefit for self-preservation and enhancement, especially if it does not cost at all to catch up.

Bitcoins were hard to mine and the common people were left out of it.  Many crypto currencies are emerging after the superlative success of bitcoins.

Now, many smartphone based mining enabled crypto currencies are emerging, and these are free to join and mine. There is no investment needed. These crypto currencies are mostly in the start-up stage, some or many of which may become a bust, we do not know which one will succeed how far, there is nothing much to lose by attempting to mine and collect them, therefore better stay opportunistic now and get on to the bandwagon.

What you need to do?

You need to download the related app onto your smartphone, register yourself by providing relevant personal info and a referral code. (It will benefit me personally if you use my referral code I have mentioned against each such crypto below).

Having installed these apps, you need to understand the mining principle which may vary, but are reasonably easy to follow. Some crypto need you to restart mining every 24 hours, some need you to visit after much less than 24 hours, some you can visit after 6 days or so. Some crypto need you to see ads to make more coins. You always gain by referring others to join using your referral code.

Will keep you updated with new opportunities

I will maintain this blog as I find new crypto opportunity out there which is free to mine from your smartphone.  The ones I am already on are as follows. Though most of these have nupadhya as reference code, it is different for some, pls. check the info below.

I have shown the image of the logo of the app, so that it will be easier for you to confirm before downloading the app into your phone from app store.

First download these apps, register yourself with the referral code indicated and get the coins mining going on. You have time later to learn better about the app and exploit it further to earn more.

Bee network: Ref Code: nupadhya

     Midion: Ref Code: nupadhya

Eagle Mining Network: Ref Code: nupadhya

Alpha Network : Ref code: nupadhya

 Spotter: Ref Code: nupadhya

You may need to wait for years to benefit from most of the coins earned while some of these may be listed for trading in crypto exchanges in due course, may be not.

You will eventually trade these coins on certified exchanges like CoinSwitch or Wazirx or many other. You will have to go through some sort of KYC process as needed both at the app and the exchange.

The government rules will emerge or change, which could jeopardise against encashing on some of the coins, which is a risk to take, but nothing to lose as you invest nothing.

Some of the crypto may charge you later for some of the services.

Disclaimer:

1.    Do not blame me if I become very rich years later, I have alerted you already on this emerging opportunity.

2.      You can not blame me if some of these opportunities become a bust or your returns later are not per expectation.

3.      You can not make me liable for anything, period. All risks known or unknown, or emerging later can not be blamed on me. There are more opportunities in this crypto world, this is just a tip of iceberg for common people like me, may be getting in now like this may open up new vistas for you in this emerging world.
